Sometimes it’s hard to see compassion in everyday life. It’s there, but we get distracted. We get distracted by the noise that often grabs our attention. I believe we are more compassionate than we realize.
“Compassion motivates people to go out of their way to help the physical, mental, or emotional pains of another and themselves.” – Wikipedia
And we do that. We go out of our way to help others–or, we want to do that. Sometimes it seems more difficult than it should be. Follow your heart. Let your heart rule your journey.
This website was created as a place for peace and connection. A place where stories, ideas and the compassionate have a voice. A place to highlight how people reach out, connect, care about each other, and care for each other.
In the wake of the Pulse shooting in Orlando, I saw firsthand how people cared for one another in the midst of such overwhelming grief. Our community was heart broken for the victims and their families, and responded with compassion and empathy. Our world responded with compassion.
We didn’t let fears or inhibitions distract us from comforting one another. Lines formed to give blood for the victims until the blood banks were full. Money was given to help the victims and their families. In our City Beautiful, and around the world, there was such an outpouring of love and support.
In the midst of this horrific tragedy that hit so close to home, everyone did whatever they could to comfort each other. This compassion, in the midst of such pain, took my breath away. It reminded me that we are all one.
